The cars work by creating a series of precisely timed explosion that pulling in and out the air. It is up to the horsepower and torque to increase the power of the engine by finding ways to move more air in and out of it. Horsepower and torque are the key components in the powering of the vehicle. Check out the ways to increase the horsepower and torque in the vehicle:
Use a cold air intake: One of the easiest and affordable ways to increase the horsepower is by upgrading to the performance Cold Air Intake (CAI). Engine operates by taking in the air, blending it with the fuel and then burning the mixture to produce the power. As the air gets colder, it gets denser. When the air gets denser, more oxygen is filled in the same amount of space which results in more power of the engine.
Get a larger diameter throttle body: In combination with fuel injection system, the throttle body regulates the air flow that goes into the engine. This is important part of the vehicle as this will result in combustion and air is required for the engine to fire properly. Installing a larger diameter throttle body with bigger flaps will allow more air to flow into the engine. This increases the horsepower. To make the engine work more, install a throttle body spacer which creates a bit more space for air to enter into the manifold, enhancing the fuel economy and giving more torque.
Add exhaust headers and manifolds: Exhaust header work by making it easier for the exhaust to flow out of cylinders in the engine. The amount of horsepower depends on the style and length of header installed and the kind of vehicle. Long tube and short headers will increase the performance of the vehicle by moving air faster and effectively. Long tube headers do the best job of building torque and horsepower to top end RPMs. Shorty headers deliver more HP and torque in the lower RPM range.
Invest in high flow catalytic converter: A high flow catalytic converter reduce emission by creating a chemical reaction between various metals and exhaust. This is done by using less dense internal cell count and increased volume surrounding the catalyst. High flow catalytic increases power across the full RPM range and boost torque and horsepower in the lower RPM range.
Performance chips and programmers: By using power programmers and performance chips to adjust the vehicle settings such as fuel to air ratio, turbo boost and ignition timing advance increase the horsepower performance. Performance software is easy to use and features plug-and-play installation that connects directly to the OBD 2 port.
Forced induction – super chargers and turbo chargers: Forced induction systems such as super chargers or turbo chargers compress the air flow into the engine and offer great potential increase in performance. Horsepower and torque can be increased by over 50% with the help of forced induction. A charged engine can produce more power which will significantly improve acceleration.
